The operational
process of the hand is very simple. Two
moveable mechanical digits interlock between
three non-moveable digits. A ratchet type
mechanism causes the moveable digits to grasp
incrementally while being closed. To
release the grip, pressure to the hand's other
side flexes the base and pulls the tab away from
the digits gears. It is a simple process
and quickly learned by the recipient.
Within minutes, the
recipient is using the hand to write with, use an eating
utensil, or drink from a cup.
